Launching our annual impact report 2021/2022

Today we launch our annual impact report - read the full report here.

Our impact report captures the work we have done over the course of the last year, which has seen a phased return to in-person intergenerational connection.

Our Connect programmes continued to bring primary-age children together with their older neighbours in retirement homes, while our Social Action strand entered its second year, inviting people of all ages to collaborate in tackling issues affecting their communities. Across both programmes, we have reached 224 young people and 199 older people through our direct delivery in the last year. That means that more than 1900 people have now made an intergenerational connection through InCommon over the last 5 years.

In the last year, we also began to consider how we might expand the reach of our work, making it accessible to people up and down the country. In the spring, we built and began to pilot a digital platform that enables schools and retirement homes to access our resources online, and to schedule and run their own workshops.

Finally, in the summer came the news that our application for charitable status had been successful. We are now busy recruiting trustees and exploring new avenues for funding. We hope that the creation of the InCommon Foundation will enable us to make even more impact in the years to come.

You can read more about all of these areas of our work in the Impact Report, alongside testimonies from our participants young and old. We’re proud of the work we’ve done, and we can’t wait to see what the year ahead brings.
